Americans Abroad for Democracy
Americans Abroad for Democracy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization supporting the 5 million + US citizens living outside the US who care about American democracy and ideals and the future of American democracy.
In addition, Americans for Democracy provides resources for US communities around the world to organize voter registration drives and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) letter writing campaigns.
Finally, Americans Abroad for Democracy encourages Americans abroad to get involved in their local communities by providing a space for Americans around the world to post information about and invite others to join their local volunteer activities.
While 62% of the general voting population voted during the last presidential election, only 3.4% of US citizens living abroad voted.That’s 3,767,400 people living abroad who didn’t vote! Meanwhile, the last few presidential elections have been decided by razor thin margins. The 2016 presidential election was decided by 77,744 votes! That’s less than a quarter of one percent of the US population that decided who the fate of the United States and, because of America’s influential role globally, the world.
